New major recognitions of quality for
GAEA's D.O.P. Extra Virgin Olive Oils
Germany's leading magazine for culinary lifestyle, gourmet
magazine - approximately 110.000 copies sold each month
- "Der Feinschmecker" performed one of the
most extensive tastings of olive oils in Germany. Among
700 competitors, "Der Feinschmecker" recommends
Gaea's D.O.P Kalamata Extra Virgin Olive Oil as one
of "The best 120 olive oils". The results
will be published in a special edition ("Bookazine")
that will be available end of April.
Another major recognition of the
superior quality of Gaea's olive oils came from Switzerland.
On March, 30 the "5 International Olive Congress
- Zurich 2006" took place at the University of
Applied Sciences Waedenswil (HSW). The highlight of
the event was the presentation of the "International
Olive Award - Zurich 2006". The expert panel of
the HSW tasted the products and performed objective
sensory evaluation. Thirty seven extra virgin olive
oils received an "Award" for their outstanding
sensory quality as well as extraordinary harmony and
persistency.
The evaluation of the olive oils was based on ten criteria
defined by the IOOC (International Olive Oil Council).
Gaea's D.O.P Sitia, Crete Extra Virgin Olive Oil gets
an award for its outstanding sensory quality and harmony.
A third major recognition came from
Russia. Ten olive oils among which some of the leading
brands around the world (Bertolli, Berio, Monini, Carapelli,
Carbonell, Borges) have been tasted and tested by well
known Russian gourmet experts and connaisseurs. The
results were published in "MENS HEALTH" of
April, a leading Russian publication for lifestyle and
well being. Among the ten different olive oils, Gaea's
D.O.P Kalamata Extra Virgin Olive Oil topped the list
and was rated as the very best olive oil in all 3 categories
evaluated: packaging, taste and aroma. The most important
element of this test was that the samples were random
bottles bought off the shelf of supermarkets. Please

magazine. Those of you fluent in Russian can read the
comments of the connaisseurs, one of them after tasting
our oil was left almost speechless and could only say
"Ohhh! Gaea!" whereas another one was more
explicit "the very best olive oil right now in
Russia".
